Wanderer's Day - Player-With-Light
Earlier this year I did some divination to come up with a set of sort of "feast days" for my deities, as a way to break them out of the usual Fire of the Year cycle, make sure I celebrated them at other times, and generally have more excises to talk about them.
Today is the day of the Player-with-Light!
They re the deity of not just light and color, but also self-definition and expression, all the ways we make ourselves known in the worlds. As such, they’re very involved with visual and performng arts and games. They’re also, no surprise, one I’m pretty close with myself; they inspired the name of the Prism Codex, and a lot of the increased color in my presentation and my life in the past few years.
The Player-with-Light seems to present with traits of particularly colorful and decorated animals; peacock and snow leopard are two who features prominently in my notes for them. They also tend to come off as ‘younger’ than most of the other Wanderers; there’s even a sense, in a myth yet to be written, of them being born from the Writer-in-Flames and Sculptor-of-Pieces, after they and other folk had mad their homes in the city of Waters Gather.
On an interpersonal level, the Player is there to help us express and define ourselves, to shine light against the oppression of the world, bright enough that we can’t be ignored. Even in hard stressful scary times, that’s important; we can all be beacons to others like us, or anyone else lost in the haze and dark that surround us sometimes. If you can, take some time today to shine that light; share a kind or defiant word, dress in something that seems perfectly you, or find some other way to express what’s most important to you.
Hail to You, Self-Radiant Player-With-Light!
